New windows to keep out the cold from the Orphanage
25-10-2007

The freezing winter in Ukraine brings the temperature down to around minus 30 degrees celsius. Inside the class-rooms at the Orphanage, the temperature is almost the same. Although the windows in Lutsk Orphanage are taped, cold air blows through the cracks. It is impossible to keep out the cold only having single window-panes. Therefore all the children are gathered together in small rooms to take advantage of one another´s body heat and in this way they try to stay warm. It is cramped and it is difficult to carry through with the teachings.

Nye vinduer

Until now these has been the conditions. Things have now changed. Poda Volyn – our firm in Ukraine – has just replaced all the windows in the orphanage. Everywhere new thermo-windows are installed and everyday life can continue, even though winter is just a few weeks away.

Hurra for de nye vinduer

We were visiting the Orphanage just as the people from Poda were busy putting in the new windows. The children realized the importance of this replacement. They were unmistakably excited and looking forward to their improved conditions.
